The BVHT was successfully accepted and registered by the Charity Commission on 27th October 2022. The decision to register was based on their assessment of the information supplied during the application process and the declarations given in the trustee declaration form and they are satisfied that BURLEY VILLAGE HERITAGE TRUST CIO is established for charitable purposes only for the public benefit.
A three day BVHT Exhibition was held in the Village Hall over the weekend of 21st-23rd July 2023 which was attended by over 300 villagers and visitors. A number of previously unseen items came to light and many were kindly donated to the Trust's archives, including a wooden toy made by the "Burleytoys" factory during the 1930's. PLANNING
Already approved plans for the building of two affordable homes (NFNPA) and Heritage Centre adjacent to the North-West side of the existing central Burley car park:
FUNDRAISING
An application for a National Lottery Grant will be submitted in due course. We will need to raise at least 10% of the total project costs, together with additional funds for internal work in order to safely and securely display items. We will also need to ensure a regular annual income stream to cover running and maintenance costs.
Following the recent BVHT fundraising coffee morning further events will be organised, developed and promoted.
The "Purchase a brick/tile" scheme at £5 each is proving popular (see "flyer" below), and a number of individuals have already set up a monthly standing order to "automatically" donate small regular amounts.
Donations can be made electronically to:
Business Account Name: Burley Village Heritage Trust CIO Sort Code: 30-99-50 Account Number: 69363960
Expressions of interest to help with any aspect of trying to bring this project to fruition, its future running and development, together with fundraising suggestions, would be most welcome.
